Paul J. Minehan, 91, formerly of Marlborough, MA, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, MA.
Born in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late Frank and Inez (Cotter) Minehan and the husband of Rosalie (Padula) Minehan. Following his graduation from Marlborough High School, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He participated in action with the 4th Marine Division at Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima until his discharge in 1945. Paul was a proud Marine, who felt it an honor to have served his country.
For many years he was the owner of Eastern Gunite Corporation, Waltham, MA, retiring in 1989.He was one of several local residents who developed and organized Marlborough Youth Hockey, was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, the Marlborough Country Club, the 4th Marine Division Association and the Marine Corps League. Following his retirement he moved to Florida where he was active at Walden Lake Country Club and later moved to Cumming,Georgia ,for several years before returning to Massachusetts.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Patricia Nickerson and her husband Matthew of Cumming, GA, Carol Lynch of Yarmouth, Ma Pamela Foley and her husband Timothy of Wareham and Kathleen Beaudoin and her husband Paul of Whitinsville, MA, 6 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren
He was also the father of the late Michael Minehan, who was also a proud Marine and died in 1968 in Vietnam, and the brother of the late Edward and Francis Minehan and Mary Louise Minehan.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 3-6 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough, MA.
Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Beach St., Marlborough, MA.
