Barbara Elizabeth (McElmeal) St. Martin, 91, of Exeter, NH, died November 7, 2017, at Langdon Place in Exeter, NH.
Born in Providence, she was the wife of the late Eugene St. Martin and the daughter of the late Owen and Louise (Smith) McElmeal. Barbara was also the mother of her late infant daughter, Christine St. Martin.
Barbara graduated from Brown University/Pembroke College. After being employed by the US Census in Washington DC, she went on to be a teacher in the Framingham School District. She then worked as a Travel agent and bookkeeper for Cerel's Travel in Natick, which gave her the opportunity to indulge her love of traveling.
She was a longstanding member of St. Matthias choir, as well as being a member of the League of Women Voters, Framingham Town Meeting and a member of Red Hat Society of The Meadows.
Barbara spent the last four years of her life under the excellent care of the dedicated staff in Assisted Living and Memory Care at Langdon Place in Exeter, NH.
She is survived by her sons, Steven St. Martin of Los Angeles, CA, Joseph St. Martin and his wife Susan of Exeter, NH and John St. Martin and his wife Laura of Marlborough, her daughters, Susan Barham and her husband Neil of West Palm Beach, FL and Carolyn Hurley and her husband Patrick of Avon, CO. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough, MA, from 4-7 pm which will begin with the Rite of Reception at 4:00 pm and conclude with the Vigil Service at 6:45 pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 201 Smithfield Ave., Pawtucket, RI.
