Cynthia Lee Whapham, daughter of George Whapham of Marlborough and the late Helen Whapham, died Thursday, April 7, after a long illness. A homemaker, she is a former longtime Marlborough resident, a Class of 1985, Marlborough High School graduate and attended Lasell College.
Eagerly awaited by her six siblings, everyone was so excited Cindy was finally going to arrive!! Every few years, Cindy's birthday would coincide with Mother's Day which made it a double celebration!
Growing up in a large family, her sisters have fond memories of summer vacation car trips to Pennsylvania with nine people stuffed into a station wagon! There were many picnics and much fun at Whalom Park and at Knoebels Grove in PA. Cindy was always a part of the family shows put on in the backyard for neighbors.
As an adult, Cindy traveled throughout the country and lived in Arizona for several years before settling in the Boston area where she lived until her death. Her greatest achievement she said, was having her children and she recognized what was best for them.
She loved music, dancing, shows - watching them and being in them. She loved animals, especially cats and to be surrounded by friends and family. She had a great heart and appreciated even the littlest things. She had a beautiful smile and a good sense of humor. She ended every conversation saying "I love you" to all her siblings and her father. It wasn't easy being the youngest of 7 kids, the baby of the family so to speak and she was always looked after, including throughout her adult life. Her family was steadfast in being there for her every step of the way, no matter what was needed and family was important to her.
Cindy is missed by her biological children, Sarah Kenney and David Boxell, sisters Suzanne Perdue, Judith Hogan and husband Pete, Linda Kenney and husband Joe, and Donna Boxell and husband Glenn, her sister-in-law Julie Whapham, her stepmother Melanie Whapham, half-siblings Elizabeth and David Whapham, MANY nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a large extended family, to say the least! She was predeceased by her brothers George and Kenneth Whapham.
Rest peacefully now, you had more strength than you could ever know. There is no more pain. We always will have you with us, in our hearts, forever.
We'll see you in our dreams and we love you so much.
