Dr. James Naumes, 77, formerly of Marlborough, died Friday, July 22, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born June 20, 1939 in Brookline, MA, and raised in Marlborough, MA, he was the son of the late O.J. and Anna (Pappas) Naumes, and the husband of Connie (Davis) Naumes of Las Vegas.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gerritsen and her husband Roland and their children, Annebelle, Sebastian James and Tyce of Amsterdam, The Netherlands and his daughter, Pamela Naumes and husband Jay Park of Los Angeles, CA, his brother, Drs. William and Margaret Naumes of Durham, NH and their children and his brother, George Naumes and his wife Betty Lou of Shrewsbury and their children, as well as his aunt, uncle,cousins and their families.
Dr. Naumes attended Clark University and Tufts University and graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1966. He served as a Captain in the US Air Force from 1966-1968 and was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in NJ.
Following his discharge in 1968, Dr.Naumes opened a dental practice in Marlborough, where he practiced dentistry for 30 years. He loved dentistry and cared deeply about his patients and staff.
During his free time, Dr.Naumes enjoyed sports, spending time at Newfound Lake, New Hampshire and traveling with his family throughout Europe. When he retired in 1997 he moved to Las Vegas with his wife Connie seeking warm weather and a better golf handicap. His humor, smile and love for family and friends will forever be cherished and deeply missed.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 28, from 4-7 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc. 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29 at 10:00am at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
