Jeannette (Cormier) Murphy, 86, of Marlborough, MA, died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, MA surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Gariepy) Cormier and the wife of the late John Murphy, who passed away in 1989.
She was a lifelong parishoner of Immaculate Conception Church and a graduate of St. Michael's Academy, Hudson, MA, she also attended Rivier College and spent time with the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, NH.
She worked as an operator for New England Telephone on Cape Cod and later in Marlborough and enjoyed a second career with the Marlborough School System in the Kane School cafeteria. She was close to her expansive family and spent many happy hours with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid lifelong fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots, she was well known for her colorful team attire. Jeannette was also an enthusiastic photographer and the keeper of many years of precious family memories. She embraced new technology and transitioned into the digital age with ease becoming adept at using computer programs, especially Photoshop and CardStudio. She enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook where she had more than 150 "friends".
Jeannette is survived by her daughters, Diane M. Rollins and her husband Ted of Northborough, Ellen A. Moro and her husband James of Uxbridge, Mary T. Giroux and her husband Charles of Marlborough, Jean M. Mahony and her husband Bryant of Natick and Carol A. Murphy and her husband Byron Scyzgial of Richmond, VA, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Helene Turcotte of Chandler, Arizona, several cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arthur G. "Gerry" Cormier.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 16 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough, MA.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough, MA.
