Sister Margaret Ebacher, SSCh, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Marie Esther Health Center, 720 Boston Post Rd., Marlborough, MA.
Sr. Margaret was born in Amesbury, MA, the daughter of the late Philias and Rose (Pinault) Ebacher.
An educator throughout her religious life, she earned a Master Degree in Education as well as in Theology.
She began her teaching career in Pawtucket, RI. After 2 years, she went to Loring Villa, in Salem MA. She enjoyed the next 28 years there where she taught kindergarten and high school becoming Principal for 5 years.
She returned to Pawtucket in 1971 where she was the Religious Education director for the parish until 1985. She was much loved there. In 1986, she went to Apollo Beach, FL where she continued religious education and ministered to migrant families. She remained in Florida where she was then assigned to Rocky Creek in Tampa and was a member of the office staff. All through her life, Sr. Margaret was known for her generosity, openness, and love for each person she met. She had a magnetic personality, resulting in a multitude of friends. She reached out to God's little ones, whether the children she taught or those who were needy in any way.
In 1996, Sister moved to the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence in Marlborough where she had various duties. While living at the retirement residence, Sr. Margaret was able to spend time with her sisters, Sr. Marie –Therese Ebacher, SSCh and the late Sr. Beatrice Ebacher, SSCh, who died in 2014. Besides her sister, Sr. Marie Therese Ebacher, SSCh, of Marlborough, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Lucian, Raymond, Roger (Fr. Jerome, O.C.S.O.) and Joseph Ebacher and Sr. Beatrice Ebacher, SSCh.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 4-7pm at the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence, 197 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Chapel of the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Haverhill Rd., Amesbury, MA.
