Mary (Talty) Geagan Lombardo, 92, of Marlborough, MA, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Coleman House, Northborough, MA. Born and raised in County Clare, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Talty) Talty, and the wife of the late Nicholas Lombardo, who died in 2005.
Mary emigrated to the United States from England in 1950, where she met her first husband, the late John Geagan. She had an engaging personality, enjoying everyone she met and they in turn enjoyed her. She had a warm and gracious manner and often acted as an ambassador to the new residents at New Horizons in Marlborough, her home for twelve years.A member of the knitting club at New Horizons, Mary loved to read, dance, bowl, play cards and canasta and take long walks, but most of all she loved caring for her precious grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Traister and her husband Dr. Richard Traister, of Newburyport, MA, Michael Geagan and his wife Frances of Marlborough, Maureen Shea and her husband James of Auburn, MA, and John Geagan and his wife Natasha of Marlborough, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, her sisters and brothers, Catherine Roche and her husband Shaun of County Clare, Senan Talty of Limerick, Joe Talty of County Clare, Patrick Talty and his wife Peg, Ann Reynolds and Teresa Travers all of England, Peggy Brown of Australia, John Talty and his wife Barbara of Canada and Rita Connolly of New York as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her step children, Alan Lombardo and his wife Francine and Elaine Masse and her husband Joseph and their families. She was the sister of the late Michael, Rita and Andrew Talty and Nora Saunders.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 4-7pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough, MA.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough, MA.
Donations may be made to the Marlborough Food Pantry, 255 Main St., Marlborough, MA 01752
