Robert T. Dolan, Sr., 74, of Marlborough, MA, died peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2018 at his home, with his family by his side.
Born in Boston, MA and raised in Watertown, he was the son of the late Frederick L. Dolan, Jr. and Helen E. (Dolan) Dolan and the husband of Lois (Langione) Dolan of Marlborough, to whom he had been married for the past 52 years.
Mr. Dolan graduated from Watertown High School in 1962 and enlisted in the US Army, where he served for the next 3 years. He pursued a career in plumbing, and in 1970 he founded Bob Dolan Plumbing and Heating Company, serving Marlborough and the surrounding area. He remained active until his retirement in 1994.
He was an avid Boston sports fan and was actively involved in local sports, playing hockey for many years and coaching Marlborough Youth Hockey. His interest in music led him to play the piano as well as the accordion. Following his retirement, he cruised with his wife, spent time with his grandchildren and enjoyed his daily morning coffee by socializing with friends at McDonalds.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert T. Dolan, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Marlborough, his daughters, Julie Brannon and her husband Christopher of Northborough, and Christie Dolan and her husband John Vella of Marlborough, his brother, Frederick L. Dolan, III and his wife Joan of Marshfield, and his sister, Elizabeth Apodemi of Bourne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Camden, Carter and Cassidy Brannon, Charlie and Gary Patricks and Melanie Putnam as well as his great- grandchildren, Tyler, Kaleb, Tucker, Gavin and Emmaline Patricks and Benjamin and Nicholas Putnam and his extended Langione family.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough MA.
