Theresa M. Lee, 63, of Marlborough, MA, passed away at 3:31 pm on April 10th, 2018 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, in Worcester, MA. Her three children surrounded her at the time of her peaceful death. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland on February 25th, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Hilditch) Thompson Rio and father Lloyd Thompson, and stepfather John Rio. She married the late Richard P. Lee in Marlborough MA in 1975. A graduate of Marlborough High School, Teresa was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. postal service in Marlborough, retiring in 1988, after which time she devoted the next countless years as a lead volunteer coordinator in the Hudson youth cheerleading and softball programs. Theresa was a strong believer in volunteerism, passionately committing to community youth programs.
Theresa was a committed wife, devoted mother, an actively present nana, a loving sister, a supportive friend, and a beacon of compassion to anyone in need. She loved all people, baking cookies often to deliver to friends and store clerks she got to know from running her weekly errands. She prayed often, smiled genuinely, laughed plenty, and always hugged without judgment. Theresa spent each night snuggled in warmly with her dog Bella, whom she loved dearly. She loved to garden, both edible fruits and vegetables, flowers, and plants. She loved nurturing anything that could grow. She was proudest of her greatest gift of nurture: her three children.
Theresa's most enjoyable times were those spent with family during the annual Labor Day celebration, Sunday family dinners at her house, holiday celebrations, her grandbabies' birthdays, mother's days, arts and crafts afternoons with her grandbabies. Nothing brought her quite as much joy as did her six beautiful grandchildren, all of whom she spoiled generously and all of whom really knew and loved their nana.
Theresa will be remembered daily by her children Eddie, Jessica, and Ricky Lee, her daughters in-law Kelly (Martin) Lee and Julie (Shelvey) Lee, her six grandchildren, Brendan, Dylan, Caelan, Addison, Ryan, and Austin Lee, her sisters Carol (Thompson) Morreale and Dorinda (Rio) Hudson, her brothers Rus, William, Charles, Richard Thompson, and Kevin Rio, her sister in laws Gerry Bell and Jul Thompson, and her brother in-laws James Lee and his husband Goran Sparrman, Dan Moreale and Kurt Hudson, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Delores Rio and Christopher Rio.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 17, at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking memorials be made to MSPCA.
