William L. LaJeunesse, 78, of Marlborough, MA, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Marlborough Hospital.

Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph Oscar LaJeunesse and Eva M. (LeLacheur) LaJeunesse and the husband of Catherine (Vaillancourt) LaJeunesse, to whom he had been married for the past 51 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Michelle LaJeunesse of Framingham, Cheryl (LaJeunesse) Arsenault and her husband Marc of Wallace, NC and Laura (LaJeunesse) Beaudoin and her husband Mark of Hudson, MA, his grandsons, whom he adored, Vincent Criscenzo and Roman Criscenzo, his sisters-in-law, Frances LaJeunesse of Marlborough and Rita LaJeunesse of Worcester and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Paul LaJeunesse, Norman LaJeunesse, Joseph Oscar "Babe" LaJeunesse and Shirley (LaJeunesse) Fournier. Bill served in the US Air Force from 1956-1959. He worked as a Mechanical and Electronic Engineer at Raytheon, until his retirement in 1995. He most recently worked at Adesa until 2015.

Bill loved to be outside enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of nature - walking, hiking and fishing were his favorites; he developed his green thumb under the guidance of his father. He loved taking photos of flowers and enjoying their beauty. He also was a jack-of-all-trades, disassembling things and putting them back together, just to see if he could. He loved tinkering, and could fix anything. He loved to work on his motorcycles and cars. His favorite past time, aside from eating, was socializing with his family and friends, and playing with his grandchildren. He was an avid WWII history buff and fighter plane fanatic. People commonly described Bill as a gentle giant, kind-hearted, even-kneeled, generous, sharp-witted, chivalrous, and an all-around extraordinary man, who everyone felt privileged to know. He left an imprint on the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 10, from 4-7 pm, with a prayer service following at 6:30 pm, at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11 at 10:00 am at St. Matthias Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough.

Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 72 E. Concord ST., C3, Boston, MA 02118 or St. Matthias Parish, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
