Eileen M. Sullivan, 84, a lifelong resident of Marlborough, died peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2012 after a brief illness. Eileen was the daughter of the late John F. and Grace (Parker) Sullivan.
She is survived by her siblings, Jean Santos of Sharon, John and his wife Inge of Rockport, Paul and his wife Patricia of N. Billerica, William and his wife Judy of Hudson and Robert and his wife Diane of Westborough and many friends, nieces and nephews and their families to whom she was devoted. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard and his wife Lorraine, who were of Marlborough, her brother in law, Anthony Santos and her nephews, Kevin and Stephen Sullivan.
Eileen was a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing, Worcester State University and Boston College. She spent her many years in nursing at V.A. hospitals and Marlborough Hospital prior to becoming Assistant Director of Nursing at Framingham Union Hospital. She later changed the direction of her career and was employed as a Guidance Counselor at Marlborough High School, where she worked for several years before retiring.
Following her retirement she was able to spend more time doing what she loved, traveling throughout the world, especially enjoying several trips to Ireland, her favorite spot.
She was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Marlborough, where she enjoyed singing in the choir for almost twenty years.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 12:00 noon at St. Matthews Church, 105 Southville Rd., Southborough, MA.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 9:30a.m. to 11:15a.m.prior to the mass at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Beach St., Marlborough, MA
