J. Kenneth "Ken" Carter, 98, of Marlborough, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Coleman House, Northborough, MA. Born and raised in Revere, he was the son of the late Chester and Emma (McCauley) Carter and the husband of the late Marie (Byrne) Carter who died in 1996.
He was a graduate of Revere High School and a Boston College Golden Eagle. He had been the Personnel Director for the former LaPointe's Machine and Tool, Hudson, MA, for many years, later becoming the Personnel Director at Design Pak in Marlborough until his retirement.
Mr. Carter served in the US Army, where he was stationed in France, Holland and Belgium during WW II.
He and his wife Marie spent their golden years on their beloved Cape Cod.
He enjoyed playing cards, golf, gardening and had a particular passion for food and viewing his favorite Boston sports teams. Throughout his life Ken always made his family his number one priority.
He is survived by his sons Jack and his wife Diane of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Stephen and his wife Marcia of Natick, Kevin and his wife Dianne of Shrewsbury and Philip and his wife Joyce of Leominster, his daughter- in- law, Jeanne Carter of Marlborough,12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Paul Carter who died in and the brother of the late Chester Carter.
Visiting hrs.will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc. 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at 2:15 pm at the National Cemetery, Bourne,MA.
